“Christmas is a necessity. There has to be at least one day of the year to remind us that we’re here for something else besides ourselves.” – Eric Sevareid, CBS News journalist

So, this happened. Fred and I put our brains together (70% Fred brains + 30% Becca brains) and built these mid-century styled dog beds for our fur kids! We got the idea from the peeps over at Our Nerd Home. They have other really kick-ass DIY projects on their site too, so check them out. We didn't follow ONH's suggested measurements but did take their advice on where to buy some of the hardware. Both beds are made out of up-cycled wood scraps and were painted with house paint that we had laying around in the basement, so these pieces were very affordable to make.
Lulu's cushion has tiny little matryoshka nesting dolls all over it and Edgar's has little owls. Eeeeek!
Ahoy! There's a new product available on my Etsy shop, Gadzoooks! Check out these adorable Christmas gift tags! I'm running an after Christmas sale right now so if you use coupon code FREESHIP1, you'll receive free shipping on these tags or anything else you order from the shop! There are also some great prints at Gadzoooks that would make lovely Valentine's Day gifts. Check it out!
Handmade Market part 2 is fast approaching! A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I'd be participating in the market at work and now we are having another one! The first one was a great success. I sold more prints than I thought I would and it was a lot of fun. In spirit of the upcoming holiday festivities, I was asked to put together another flyer that was more fit for the season. This is what came out of it!
So, we are having a small Handmade Market event at my place of work next week, which I am already excited about! How cool of an idea is that?! I'll be selling items from my Etsy shop, Gadzoooks! Sadly, it's for employees only. Sorry folks!
Also, I am excited that I was asked to help out with the flyer design, which was super fun and certainly a nice break from the normal routine at the office. Check it out below!
Hello world! Long time no see! I've been a busy little bee, working on my newest endeavor-an Etsy shop! That's right, my Etsy shop, called Gadzoooks, is now up and running and I am so very excited about it! Check out the spiffy logo I made below!
For now, I have mostly decent older work from college (made about 5 or 6 years ago). It's not doing any good sitting at my house in dusty sheets of mylar, so why not let others get some enjoyment out of it? My newest work on there, though, is pretty cool! I've designed and illustrated a series of love themed prints that have a steampunk/robotic twist. You may recognize the one on the bottom right from this post. I first created it for my sweet niece, Elinor. It was a gift to her parents, for her nursery. I've just sort of built on that same style and theme and with that, created the other 3.
Over the course of the next few months, I'll be releasing another line of either illustrated prints or cards-I haven't fully decided yet. The subject of this new line of print goods will feature crazy ass children, and I am calling the series Jankity Kids. So, keep a look out for these funny little guys to come out at Gadzoooks!
If you didn't know, I got hitched this past May! Yipee! My husband and I were lucky enough to meet our photographer, Julianna Boehm, at our annual city yard sale-how awesome is that? It's pretty awesome. She and her side kick, Mandy, did a kick-ass job. We couldn't have asked for a better pair. I finally finished editing the gorgeous photos and here are some of our favorites!
Fun, cliche craft I made for our wedding. Each envelope contains a vintage embroidered hankie for a few of the most special ladies...
Thanksgiving has come and gone once again. I decided to decorate the dining table with some items/linens that I plan to use for our wedding reception.
