BedFrame.jpg

Let me start with this:Fred and I are poor. Fred is very handy. Fred collects things and I think he is becoming a horder! Ha! With that said, a platform bed fame is born. He was able to get these black plastic crates for free from a bakery that closed down next to his place of work. The press board is 3/4 inch thick purchased from Home Depot for about $30.00 or so. Also, we had to purchase hinges to connect the 2 boards. The heavy duty zip ties-we had those already. So, all in all, this cost us about $40.00 total.

How did we do it, you ask. We simply cut the boards down to the correct dimensions (a bit bigger than our actual matress). We then drilled holes where the crates were going to be attached to the boards, connected the boards with hinges, used the zip ties to connect the crates to the boards and that is pretty much it! Because of the hinges, this will be easily portable if we ever move.

All in all, I am pretty pleased with this little project. I plan on eventually sewing a much more appealing cover to drape over the frame-but for now, this will do. :)
